Last Days of Summer #OOTD

I may have finally found a practical way to share my work outfits with you.  The chaos of my domestic life makes getting a decent snapshot at home virtually impossible (there’s always a little girl or stray toy getting in the way).  Thankfully, one of my new work friends (a twenty-something, social media wiz who makes everything digital seem so darn effortless) was kind enough to take some shots of me today.  She even gave me some tips on how to take usable selfies, so who knows … this could be the start of a beautiful thing!

This blog is all about getting more joy out of less clothing (and I truly do get great joy out of a fairly modest wardrobe), so I think sharing my own wardrobe is an important part of conveying the spirit of this blog

Now on to the outfit … after a few days of chilly autumn-like weather, I woke up to a daily forecast of 32 degrees.  Knowing this will likely be one of the last humid days of the year, I wanted to embrace the last days of summer with work-appropriate brights.

This teal pencil skirt from Le Chateau has been in my closet at least four years (since before my first daughter was born).  It’s classic Spring/Summer suiting and I expect I’ll still be wearing it when the sun comes out again in 2016.

I kept the overall look fit for work with this subtle polka dot peplum blouse (also Le Chateau) and kept the summer vibe alive with these vicid fuchsia d’orsay pumps (Guess).

I’m obsessed with waist-defining belts (they are a blessing for my figure) and this reversible vintage Hermès version is my all-time favourite.

My minimalist accessories include a Swarovski pendant, diamond-accent bracelet and, of course, my wedding rings.

What are you wearing these last days of summer?
