Weekly Wardrobe Challenge – Break Out of Your Comfort Zone!

Designer clothes hanger in a rowWant to enhance you style without buying new clothes?  My weekly wardrobe challenges help you maximize your style quotient without spending a dime.

It’s generally thought that most of us wear 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time.  How tired and uninspired is that?

People are creatures of habit.  Without extra motivation, we fall back on the familiar and effortless.  When it comes to our closets, these instincts are exacerbated by the fact that most of us own far too many, low-quality clothes.   To avoid the mental fatigue of sorting through the clutter each morning, we often gravitate to our handful of favourite pieces, day … after … day.

This week, I challenge you to break out of your comfort zone by leaving your top three-to-five outfits on their hangers.

Are you generally a pants girls?  Reacquaint yourself with your skirts and dresses this week.

Are you a denim fanatic?  Try banning the fabric for the week to see what alternative outfits you come up with.

If you usually stick to solids, mix it up with some print.  If you’re a fairly monochromatic dresser, make it pop with bold colour.  Mix and match your long ignored accessories. Combine garments you’ve never put together before.  Create an occasion to wear that piece you love, but never have the right occasion to wear!

This challenge is guaranteed to teach you something valuable about your personal style. Hopefully it will spark your fashion creativity and rekindle your affection for long lost loves.

If, on the other hand, you simply cannot manage wearing your top three favourite outfits while the vast majority of your wardrobe goes unworn, you are in need of a serious closet clean up!
